Why everyone keeps coming back.

King Souvlaki, nestled at the bustling intersection of 31st Street and 31st Avenue in Astoria, NY, is a standout Greek and gyro restaurant that delivers authentic flavors with every bite. Specializing in traditional Greek street fare, this eatery offers a fresh and savory take on classic souvlaki and gyro dishes, inviting you to experience the heart of Greece right in Queens.

The menu is a celebration of grilled perfection and bold Mediterranean flavors. For hearty appetites, the Hero Sandwiches beckon with generous double portions—like the Pork Gyro Hero Sandwich, stacked high with slow-roasted, tender pork gyro, or the Lamb & Beef Gyro Hero Sandwich, where melts-in-your-mouth cuts of lamb and beef come together for a rich, smoky bite. Each hero sandwich is lightly grilled to add a satisfying crunch to its soft, pillowy bread, perfectly complementing the succulent fillings.

If you prefer to eat on the go or savor each morsel in its purest form, the “On a Stick” offerings are an irresistible choice. Imagine marinated pork or chicken skewers, lovingly hand-prepared and cooked over hardwood charcoal, imparting a deep, smoky aroma and unmatched juiciness. The Loukaniko Horiatiko, a handmade Greek pork sausage grilled to perfection, offers a delightful burst of herbaceous flavor with every bite—served simply with bread, it’s a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to authentic taste.

The Pita Sandwiches are a cozy, flavorful option that wraps tender, slow-roasted slices of pork souvlaki or gyro meat inside warm, toasty pita bread, accented with customizable fillings and sauces. The careful balance of textures—the softness of the bread paired with the vibrant fillings—makes these sandwiches a comfort food delight. One standout is the Pork Gyro Pita, where the seasoned meat’s natural juices marry perfectly with fresh accompaniments to create a harmonious, mouthwatering experience.

What truly sets King Souvlaki apart is not just the quality and authenticity of their food, but the vibrant, approachable dining atmosphere. While technically a food truck, the energy is palpable and welcoming, attracting both Greek food aficionados and curious newcomers alike. The staff’s knowledge encourages diners to explore the menu confidently, and once you taste the layered flavors—from the tang of their lemon vinaigrette sauce to the creamy richness of their tzatziki—you understand why locals, including proud Astoria natives, praise this spot as “the real deal.”

Customers echo this sentiment with heartfelt reviews. Francisco Bastos highlights the great value and quality, noting the variety of sauces and recommending Greek sodas as a perfect accompaniment. Angel Marin calls the pork souvlaki “to die for,” applauding the tender, juicy meat and the expertly balanced lemon sauce. David Pollard remarks on the tantalizing aroma that greets you, and the tender, perfectly seasoned mixed souvlaki that keeps him coming back. Even those new to Greek cuisine find the menu rewarding once they dive in.

Whether you’re a local Astorian craving the nostalgic taste of Greece or a visitor seeking a genuine culinary adventure, King Souvlaki offers a memorable, flavor-packed experience. It’s a delicious reminder of how thoughtful cooking and authentic ingredients can transform simple street food into something extraordinary.

I was excited to try this food truck and ordered their pork pita. It was stuffed with soggy fries but the pork was marinated pretty well. The cut could have been fattier to give it a little more moisture. The pita hit it out of the ballpark with the softness. The platter had a salad of simple lettuce and a few cut tomatoes (bland as there was no dressing). I was a fan of their tzatziki though. The truck had 5 workers working! The wait time for the food was pretty fast. The food was very affordable with $10 a meat gyro and a few more dollars more for a full platter.

Not sure what’s going on with some of these reviews, but any true Astoria native (born and raised, and not a transplant) knows this place is the real deal—great food, incredible flavor, and top-notch service. If your review isn’t about the food, don’t try to damage a business’s reputation and livelihood. Just had the chicken gyro salad—delicious, and I’ve even got leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

This food truck was probably my favorite that I have ate at in NYC. They’re pork souvlaki with Peet’s and their king sauce is to die for. Very tender, juicy, and flavorful. They put this lemon vinaigrette sauce in them that I thought was going to be overpowering, but it wasn’t. It gave it the perfect balance. Their feta loaded fries with the lemon sauce was the highlight of the night. The staff was friendly and kind, and answered all the questions we had about the menu. Counting the days until I go again. Pork souvlaki: 10/10 Fries: 10/10

King Souvlaki in Astoria is an absolute gem! From the moment I approached their truck, the aroma of perfectly grilled meat filled the air, instantly making my mouth water. I opted for the mixed chicken and beef souvlaki, and it was a fantastic choice. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection – you could taste the quality of the ingredients and the care they put into their grilling. The portion size was generous, especially for the price, making it an excellent value. The pita bread was warm and fluffy, the perfect vessel for the flavorful meat, fresh tomatoes, onions, and their creamy tzatziki sauce. Every bite was a delightful explosion of authentic Greek flavors. What truly elevates the experience is the friendly and efficient service. Despite the steady stream of customers, the staff were quick, courteous, and clearly passionate about their food. You can tell this isn't just a job for them; they take pride in serving delicious, high-quality souvlaki. King Souvlaki is a must-visit for anyone craving genuine Greek street food in Astoria. The mixed chicken and beef souvlaki is a standout, offering a wonderful combination of textures and tastes. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you! I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I needed food while walking to the bus stop to go to the airport, and I’m so happy God was smiling on me that day & directed me here (via google maps). The food. I have an upcoming flight & have the option to connect through LGA. I’m considering doing that just so I can catch a ride to this truck, get this amazing food, & go back to the airport to finish my trip! So, that’s how I feel about the food. The service was also great. Super nice people!!! Can’t wait to be back. Thank you!

AMAZING FLAVORS. My husband and I got a platter to split. There was a ton piled onto this plate. The meat was perfectly cooked with a bit of char, pita still soft but heated just right, veggies fresh, the sauce so good! We got it with fries this time, and those absorbed all of the flavors too, I'm dreaming about this food and can't wait to get back there. There wasn't a line when we went, but I've noticed people getting served very quickly on other days when I've walked by and there was one. The guys working were very pleasant, and the prices phenomenal for everything you get. Highly recommend!
